0.2c QOL and Design Improvements


A new version (0.2c) is now live. So let's talk about what is new...

  • There are many changes in the graphic design and the UI. Still a lot to do, but the game should look nicer.
  • A watermark of a flag and the Unique piece of every set was added to the Select Set window. Just to make it look cool.
  • If you attempt to exit a battle, an "Are you sure" confirmation will pop up. Make sure to read it.
  • When you are about to attack, a forecast of the outcome will appear. Like any serious SRPG should have.
  • Now there is a chart that shows you what kind of movement a piece has. Very useful for Unique pieces or pieces that learned new moves.
  • You can activate in the Option to be shown the squares that a piece could move when unobstructed. This is useful if you wanna calculate the possible movements on the board, the circles in this case will appear smaller, and if they are too annoying just uncheck the option.
  • A Credits page was added. It's important to give credit.
  • Now the last piece that was moved is highlighted with a red glowy border. Now you can see who attacked you!
  • When a Pawn can be promoted, the square will be bright yellow. So you dont get lost.
  • When you win a Scenario and return to the Campaign Screen, the next scenario will automatically be selected. This way you can keep beating the Campaign uninterrumpted.
  • Music in the Main Menu and in battle. Don't worry, you can also adjust the volume of the music all the way to the bottom if you don't like it.
  • You can adjust the volume of sound and music separately in Options. 
  • The story of the scenarios now appears right before starting the scenario. Im particulary proud of the Old Newspaper pixel art used as a background there!
  • Also, the fonts were changed!
  • A new more robust save system is in place. You are not likely to feel it, but your data is stored more securely.

There is still a lot to do. And I know that the game would benefit a lot from a Tutorial, Better AI or Multiplayer. And those are in the work, but a major gameplay change is coming soon, and this in turn will affect the tutorial, the AI and the multiplayer experience when it comes. Hopefully the game will be a lot more fun, and I will be able to add much more content.
