Version 0.3a is almost a new game!


Version 0.3 is here! And it is a MAJOR Update! Let's talk about all of the changes:

New Gameplay

The gameplay was completely revamped, the previous game felt like something was missing. Now there are new mechanics that make the game play differently, a little more tactical rpg.

First, now there is a move phase and an attack phase. In the move phase you can declare as many attacks as you want but only can actually move one piece. So, like Chess, you can move once per turn, but every turn several attacks will be performed. Also, once a piece has a target it will keep on attacking it every turn after you have declared the attack. The pieces are a lot tankier now so they wont die in just one or two turns. There is a new layer of strategy now, with you having to manage several attacks er turn. 

If all of this sounds complicated, well, there is a Tutorial now. It will appear automatically the first time you play. 

The previous version 0.2c is still available to download, in case you want to check how the game was before the changes


Changes to Sets

The last pawn on an army now always promote. This makes it easier for Unique Pieces to come to play.

China: Now has a new bonus, its 2 last pawns promote

British: Bonus changed, from Pawns +1 move at start, to Pawns always having 2 moves forward


Changes to Pieces

Practically, all of the pieces got their HP multiplied by 5.

Pawns now are 10 HP and 2 ATK. 

Knight and Bishop were balanced around each other. Before, Knight and Bishop were the same piece with different moves, now Knights have 20 HP and 3 ATK, and Bishops has 15 HP but compensate with 4 ATK.

Rooks used to be better at every aspect, but now they have 3 ATK, the same as Knights and less than Bishops. But are still tankier with 25 HP.

Queen 5 HP and 8 ATK, so they are still a glass canon.

And Kings 50 HP and 2 ATK, still very tanky.

Unique pieces were also tinkered:

Marshall (US)    25 HP  5 ATK 

Lord (British)    5 HP  1  ATK

Mortar (Russian)  20 HP  5 ATK 

Guard (Chinese)  15 HP  4 ATK 

Chancellor (German)  20 HP  3 ATK 

Dragon (Japanese)  20 HP  4 ATK 

Paladin (French)  25 HP  3 ATK 

Cardinal (Italian)  20 HP  3 ATK 


QOL Improvements

Now the last moves done are highlighted (start and end square of a move, attacker and attacked of an attack)

When a piece is the target of an attack, is highlighted in a color. The piece that is declaring the attack gets a sword symbol of the same color. If the target piece moves and cannot longer be attacked, the sword icon will be dimmed. This makes it easier for you to follow which piece is attacking which.

Fixed the different Stats UI blinking when the AI was playing (because algorithms were scrolling through the pieces)

Miscellaneous and Cosmetic Changes

Subtle changes in the spatial position of pieces

Changes in the colors of the Campaign Map and the Move Chart depending on the theme

Added a Border to the World Map

White pieces get very dark blue eyes, to contrast with Black pieces getting red eyes. Also, it has something to do with a new shader system for the highlights.

Change the Handle in the Set Select window, to make it more intuitive that is a handle and you can scroll it to reveal more sets.

Added a Battle Phase indicator, cause phases are a thing now. 

Added animation attacks


Campaign Restructured

New gameplay and new AI (that had to learn how to play this new game) made the campaign much more difficult, in fact, practically impossible. The scenarios were then "scaled down" to make them possible. In summary, I think the New Campaign is more difficult than the previous one, but there is a lot more strategy to it, and the army compositions were carefully devised, so they are more... colorful, I don't know how to describe it. It is much more fun, I would highly recommend to play it again.

The pawns of the Kingdom of Central Anctarctica promote to Guards now. 

The icons of the scenarios in the Campaign Screen reflect the new armies and now when you defeat a scenario, the pieces eyes get shut.


Fixes

Fixed a situation with the campaign screen

After winning scenario 8 it didnt automatically skip to scenario 9

After winning scenario 9 it skips to scenario 1 (previously it would skip to scenario 1 but with the buttons deactivated)
